HOW TO USE

Map has a range of layers representing demographic indicators (Group I) and adoption of solar PV (Group II). Indicators from Group I can be overlayed with indicators from Group II.

INDICATORS

Group I

*Education (%): Proportion of the population within a postcode which has obtained a tertiary qualification. These include the sum of Postgraduate level, Graduate Diploma and Bachelor Degree qualifications. Authors’ calculations based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

*Income (%): Proportion of households within a postcode which meets or exceeds the national average weekly household income (AUD1,500 in 2016). Authors’ calculations based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

*Median age (years): Median age of the population of each postcode. Authors’ calculations based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

*Proportion of detached dwellings: Proportion of total dwellings considered detached dwellings within a postcode. Authors’ calculations based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Group II

*SPV output (kW): The total aggregated kilowatt (kW) output capacity of all small-scale solar installations within a postcode as of August 2021. Data from the Clean Energy Regulator.

*SPV installations (count): The total amount of registered small-scale solar installations in each postcode as of August 2021. Unregistered installations or installations pending registration are not included. Data from the Clean Energy Regulator.

*SPV output per detached dwelling (kw): The ratio of total aggregated kilowatt (kW) output capacity to the number of Detached Dwellings in a postcode as of August 2021. Authors’ calculations based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Clean Energy Regulator.

*SPV installations per detached dwelling (count): The ratio of total registered small-scale solar installations to the number of Detached Dwellings in a postcode as of August 2021. Authors’ calculations based on data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Clean Energy Regulator.

NOTE: Post code 4306 spans across several LGAs and therefore was excluded as it was not representative of the Brisbane LGA.
